How would you compare Gestalt to other CMS platforms?
Gestalt is similar to other CMS platforms in the sense that using it you can publish and organize content online, create a customized look for your site, invite visitors to your site to participate in dissuasions via comments, and host files.
What sets Gestalt apart from all those other CMS systems is the fact that it’s totally user configurable. Anyway that you can think of to bend Gestalt, it will allow you to. Say you want a simple site with news, information about your restaurant, and a photo gallery (see http://misolounge.com), or maybe you want a site like http://missournet.com with millions of articles, podcasts, ad banners, and blogs.
What is the process of building templates like?
Building a template for Gestalt is pretty easy thanks to the build in “pseudocode” system. Using it you can create a template however you are most comfortable with then insert special tags where you want content to appear, when Gestalt runs across these tags it will insert articles or anything else that you tagged it with. For more information on pseudocode, please see the Working with Pseudocode article.
